Tackling Uzbekistan's Silent Challenge

Uzbekistan, a land of rich culinary traditions, faces a significant challenge: food waste. Every day, delicious food from bakeries, restaurants, and supermarkets ends up in landfills, creating an economic drain and an environmental burden.

The Stark Reality

30%

Of all food produced in Uzbekistan is wasted annually, a significant factor in food insecurity.

730 Tons

Of bread are discarded annually in Tashkent alone, according to UNDP studies.

Ozod and Nodir

The Spark Behind Savr

We are Ozod and Nodir, two brothers who were inspired to build Savr after a simple observation. We noticed one of our favorite bakeries selling delicious food at a heavy discount at the end of the day. They told us it was because the food would no longer be fresh enough to sell the next day and unless it gets sold it would be thrown away.

This sparked a question: how much perfectly good food is wasted every day? The numbers we found were staggering. So, we decided to build a bridge between that surplus food and people who would love to enjoy it at a reduced price.

We started with a simple Telegram bot to test the idea, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. This confirmed our belief that Savr had the potential to make a real difference.
